Central Asia (MidSouth)
Description
BRINGING HOPE TO A DRY, THIRSTY LAND!!
Central Asia is full of countries in the midst of transition. Formerly part of the Soviet Union, there is a unique combination of new governments, Muslim religion, Russian culture and economic possibility. Though Central Asian countries are no longer part of the Soviet Union, independence has not brought freedom and economic prosperity. There are attempts being made at the democratic process, but real democracy is hard to find.
There is a real mix of ethnic groups with most indigenous peoples having a long history of being Muslim. Yet their connection with Communist rule has left them widely ignorant to the real roots and customs of Islam. They are hungry for answers and direction!
As a part of this summer team, you will grow in flexibility, faith, and the simplicity of sharing Christ with those who have never heard. Students will flock to you to practice their conversational English and learn about America and the outside world. Their genuine friendship is offered readily, as they watch you love your teammates in ways they have never seen unconditional love expressed. Join us to help reach Muslim students for Christ and show them the God of love and forgiveness!
Dates, details and cost are tentative and subject to change.
Please Note: All participants are REQUIRED to attend a briefing April 12-14, 2013. Location: Black Mountain, NC.
