Alaska: Anchorage

Description

When God created Alaska, His creative finger lingered here as He poured His pleasure into a breathtaking tapestry of rugged mountains, glacier carved valleys, and river drainages filled with His abundance. Alaska is also a land filled with injury, brokenness, and pain…He invites you to experience and participate in His redemptive work of taking things torn, curved, and bent by sin and by the fall and making them whole and beautiful. Live out the Gospel in the context of incredible abundance, beauty, and restorative brotherhood. For the first time this summer, the Alaska Anchorage project will accept woman, not just men. It's a project that provides space and focus to sink your roots deep into a lifestyle of loving God, living the mission, loving people, and leading others to follow Christ.

We will be set in the city of Anchorage, a surprisingly urban environment on the borders of Alaska's beauty. As a project we will have an ESM flair as we adopt and emphasize cross cultural ministry perspectives that you will find freeing and effective for a lifetime of gospel living. Every small group will be partnering with local churches and host families to plan, execute, and live out a weekly gospel outreach in the city. There will be a great variety of opportunity from serving an urban Native Alaskan church, running a weekly basketball camp, to having one action group focused on re-launching a Cru movement at UAA. Our desire is to engage the city as life giving men and families and see what God can do. All ministry will be done in an attitude of trust and connected to the local Churches, families, and ministries.

You will have the opportunity to work a job or apply to be a volunteer church intern (contingent on adequate support). You can contribute to the good reputation of students who have worked some of the jobs for over 20 years!

Students who drive up a reliable vehicle that seats 7 people will receive a $750 discount from their project fees!
